Skillet Baked Ziti

Ingredients

  • 1 pund Felton Angus Beef ground beef
  • 1/2 Onion diced
  • 1 clove Garlic minced
  • 1 jar Marinara sauce or 2 cups homemade marinara
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes (14.5 ounces)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • 8 oz Uncooked ziti or penne pasta
  • 1/2 cup Heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese finely grated
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese

Instructions

  • In a large, oven-proof skillet (we like cast iron) add ground beef and onion. Cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add garlic, marinara, tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, water and pasta. Bring to a simmer.
  • Reduce heat, cover and cook until pasta is al-dente, 18-20 minutes.
  • Remove cover. Stir in cream and parmesan cheese. Dot with ricotta cheese. Sprinkle with mozzarella.
  • Place in a 400 degree oven uncovered, 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven. Serve with salad and crusty bread.
